Wardays and how we can make them better

It seems like when we have wardays and a CT comes to open Cells they are always rushed instantly, And if a CT doesn't come to open cells we have to stay in our cells for an annoyingly long amount of time (Some maps don't even have auto-open cells) Should wardens be able to type a command in the chat to open cells during wardays? I wouldn't know how you guys would make a command like this or even if it is possible but please leave your thoughts about this in the replies. ty :)

cool idea but gp aint got no devs with access to do this kinda stuff no more

all doors auto open in special days once it picked so its very possible to do it in wardays too

Devs have as much access as they need. They also have a test server to test stuff on

There is no way to target cell doors specifically, and not all cell doors are considered func_doors that can be told to open, some are func_breakable that are removed via kill (killing an entity is the same thing as making it disappear). In other words, if this were to be done, all things that can break or can open will be broken/opened, and well this isn't a very desired way of doing things as I'm sure you can understand, but it's the "easy" option.

Sure, we could spend hours going through every map and level, meticulously pick out every cell and then write 1000s of lines of code for each map, or we could just open and kill everything. This is why the latter option is chosen. And I'll be frank, there is no way in hell I'm going to do the former.

So you guys can continue to discuss, just know that everything would be opened/killed that could be if everyone wants this.

edit: Oh and I forgot to add, in order to uphold the idea of allowing CTs to get in position there would be no timer stopping the CTs from using the command at any time during the round, so one could perversely open the cells using the button, then use the command and destroy everything on the map at any time during the round.

I like this idea, if the same thing could be applied to the warday command that could very well work.

However it would no longer be a spontaneous thing and would have to be announced and prepared for (which isn't a bad habit anyway IMO) unless they also added the countdown timer like in special days.

I don't know the first thing about source or code in general so I wont touch on any of that lest I make a fool of myself.

I have personally been knifed opening cells countless times as I know others have, its not the end of the world when this happens of course but its not pleasant for someone who enjoys taking part in wardays.

That is all.

If the doors auto’d on wardays, the CTs wouldn’t have a chance to get to war day without dying

just tell the CTs to go somewhere then call the warday. or make a timer.

i agree the former is the best way to do it, but u could also go through the maps and just ent_fire the cell buttons on each map if u wanted to go through all that shit. also u could probably just copy paste the code and fill in for each map rather than rewrite it over and over i would've thought but i aint no dev.

if we were to do this i think the best way would give the !warday command like a 10 - 20 second timer before opening/breaking/killing the doors just like the special day command does at the start of it.

I remember a plug-in on HoE that opened all doors on the map at 6:30 (gets Ts out of their cells, opens armory doors for a few seconds). It was balanced and it didn't break open any vents.
